SWEDEN VS GREAT BRITAIN
In this blog post I will write a bit about the similarities and differences between Sweden and Great Britain.
The first big difference I could think of is that we drive on different sides of the road. In Great Britain they drive on the left side of the road and have their steering wheel on the right side, and in Sweden it is the opposite.
Another difference is the population. Great Britain has around 64 million residents, while Sweden does not even have 10 million. The city of London even has more residents than the whole country of Sweden.
A thing about the English school that is different to the Swedish school, is that in most of the schools there they wear uniforms. I think it's a big relief that we don't have to wear uniforms in Swedish schools, because clothes is one of my favorite ways of expressing myself.
One more thing that separates the countries is how the people dress. With this I don't mean the style, I mean the amount of clothes. When I have been in Great Britain people can go around in t-shirts and shorts when there is probably 10 or 15 degrees Celsius outside. That is one thing that the Englishmen is very bad at compared to us Swedes. It almost seems like they are immune to the cold sometimes.
A similarity between the countries is the weather. It may be a little bit colder in Sweden than it is in Great Britatin, but both of the countries had four seasons. It also rains a lot in both countries, even if Great Britan has more rainy days than Sweden does.
Another similarity between the countries is that they are both monarchies. In Great Britain Queen Elisabeth II is the lead of the royal family, and in Sweden it is king Carl XVI Gustaf.
If I had to choose one of the countries to live in for the rest of my live, I would choose Sweden. After all I have all my friends and family here, and this is where i grew up. Though, I think the ultimate thing would be to choose a mix between the two. It would be great to live in Great Britain for a year or so, for example when I'm studying at a university, but when I get a husband and kids I want to live in Sweden. I want my kids to live close to their relatives, and I also want them to learn Swedish. Although, I would want to experience how it is to live in Great Britain, so it would be great to live there for around a year in my younger years as an adult.
