Shoe Shaped Sugar Cookies - Gift Idea

Made the  these cute sugar cookies for a friends birthday, she really loves shoes so I thought these would be really fitting. The sugar cookie part fairly simple (although I did have a moment of frustration, lol), but the decorating part was definitely more time consuming. Here is a step by step recipe and some tips along the way. Sugar cookie ingredients:  2 cups (or 4 sticks) Room temperature salted butter  2 cups Sugar 2 Eggs 2 tbsp. Vanilla extract  4 tsp. Baking powder 6-7 cups All-purpose flour Add the butter and sugar and mix it together until it's completely mixed (but don't over mix). Add the vanilla extract and eggs, and mix it all together. Add the baking powder next and mix it together. Now start adding the flour one cup at a time. The flour should be completely mixed in and the dough should be firm but not dry. If it seems dry add a little bit of milk, and if it seems to sticky add a little more flour. Now take a handful of the dough and roll it out until it's about 1/3 inch thick and cut out shapes with a cookie cutter (I obviously used a shoe shaped one). Bake at 350 degrees for 7-8 minutes depending on the size of the cookie.  Do not over bake, but just until you see the bottom of the cookie turning a bit brown. After you take the cookies out of the oven let them completely cool off before adding the frosting.  Buttercream frosting ingredients:  4 cups of powdered sugar 1 Cup (2 sticks) of softened butter 2-3 teaspoons of vanilla 1-2 tablespoons of milk Decorating bags (or just normal plastic storage bags) Decorating tips Mix all of the ingredients together until it's completely combined and smooth. If the frosting seems to solid add more milk and more powdered sugar if it's too liquid. Once you have the basic frosting ready, separate parts of it in different bowls and add the food coloring that you wish to use to each. I used about 4-5 different colors, and I think that made it a bit more fun. I used different types of decorating tips and some colored sugar for added texture.
