Accessory Trend: The CHOKER
I think it's been already three years ago since we saw the firsts chokers coming "back on business" in the streets and runways and all the alarms went one for what everybody foresaw a HIT trend to come. However, THE CHOKER it's been in our lives since, yet quite sporadically. I'm still doubting if it's something I like or not as these type of necklaces, the so called CHOKERS, were huge during my teenage years and yes, of course I was a big fan of them, in fact I had plenty, but teenage years are gone and they always leave a bit of a bittersweet taste after all. I also think that the choker is something more appropriate for a pet than a flattering accessory, however, I do admit that it has a gothic / punk vibe that's very attractive and that I can accept in some outfits and styles. Personally, I would take its ribbon version, being it thiner or thicker, doesn't matter, but anything to get rid of those cheap plastic bands around our necks. But hey! This is my opinion XD Given that its presence has been sporadic these last three years, we all thought that it would be a trend to die soon; but the choker has not only been supported by the big brands such as Giles or Mary Kantratzou in Spring/Summer 2016 runways, but also our bloggers and IT girls go around with them at all times and create great and special combos, making the choker their IT accessory. In fact, Kendall Jenner has appointed that the choker will be the MUST accessory for spring/summer 2016 :) And we can see the choker in IT girls such as Gigi Hadid, Alexa Chung, and Kim Kardashion, amongst others. Girls, don't think it isn't something that I will not fall for at the end; I do see so much potential in it and I do like the combination of a velvet band around my neck with a basic white shirt and jeans; I think it elevates the outfit making it glamorous and sexy; and I do like the thicker version; the one that almost covers the whole neck. In fact, it is a very easy and cheap trend that you can all create; there is an extensive number of DYI tutorials on the web - have a look at A Pair & Spare-. If what you prefer is even more effortless, any velvet band or black cord you have at home will do! :) And yes! Our stores have also succumbed to the CHOKER trend and we can finally get one of these at great prices! :) 1. Nasty Gal 2. Free People 3. Asos 4. Etsy 1. Nasty Gal 2. Free People 3. Asos 4.
