WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE

As you may or may not know, I'm working on transforming our little apartment in to a jungle :))) let's have a peek at how I've done so far.... First out is Olof Palme  (Swedish prime minister back in the day), hehe. Found abandoned on the street last winter :O we adopted him and he seems to be loving life on top of one of our speakers :)  On the table (also found on the street! Beautiful green tiled table top, uber-heavy :O ) we have a little long-leafed one (as you'll notice I don't really know any actual plant names) that Duncan picked up somewhere. I re-potted it along with one of its friends, the friend sadly passed away but this one is still going strong! To the left is oregano, newest addition to the plant family. Picked off a bigger bush chez one of my families. Hopefully it stays alive, fingers crossed please!  Love having fresh herbs at home, this is the first basil I've managed to keep alive! Yay! It sits in a big (well drained) bowl and gets water on its little plate every day. And gets eaten pretty much every day too :)  Picked this BIG thing up at the latest vide grenier, for 8€! Recently learned that it doesn't like direct sunlight, so quickly moved him away from the window. So far so good :)  This guy you may recognize if you've followed le blog for a while. Last years birthday present from Duncan, Mr Planty the second (don't ask about Planty no 1 :O )! Named after Robert Plant, bien sur.  Ivan the Ivy doesn't have nearly as many leaves as when we first got him, it took us a while to realize that he really wanted to be outside (despite lots of direct sunlight), but he seems to love it out there now. He may be a bit naked-looking but he's still sprouting lots of little baby leaves and snaking his way over to.... Rose! Who is always looking a bit sad these days, but she'll come back again I'm sure :) I'm still hoping that one of these green family members can eventually live above our shower (there's a skylight directly above the shower), if not - any tips at all on plants that don't need a whole lot of direct sunlight?? Preferably one that doesn't need to be watered all the time either (bit tricky to get up there)!
