VIDE GRENIER SEASON.
Guys and girls and everyone else too - my favourite season in the world has started: vide grenier season!!! For those who don't know vide grenier is a kind of flea market, it literally translates to "clean out your attic", which is exactly what people do! Every weekend the official website is updated with which quartier it'll be in this time. After a few years we've learned to spot the good ones :))) I woke up on Saturday feeling fragile after a big Friday night out. Duncan was in great shape (HOW???) and managed to coax me out of bed (with promises of second hand-finds). I stumbled up in my leopard-onesie to brush my teeth and this happened! The funny thing is that it's not even the first, or the second time. It's the third. Last time it happened was at Sweden Rock a couple of years ago, had to brush my teeth with the 4 centimeter top for 4 days >< Don't know if I'm an aggressive brusher or if I just have really crappy toothbrushes?? D. led me to the metro and we got off somewhere near Montparnasse. Stepped in to the nearest supermarket and got my best hangover cure: ice cold still water & a lemon to peel and eat as is. We spotted the stalls and I perked up. D. led the way. I love these vide greniers because of the obvious: that you can make really cool finds for almost no money at all, but also because of the people and the atmosphere. Most of the people in the stalls are so happy that you're taking an interest in their old things, many of them want to tell you the story behind what you're looking at and is happy to let it go for less than they planned if it seems like it's going to a good new home. We spent between an hour and two wandering around the stalls in the sun, I bought a few things.... (more to come on that) after that we were hungry and sat down at the nearest brasserie. Good Paris-pointer: a lot of places don't serve food between lunch & dinner time, but most brasseries have "non stop service". Really good to know if you're hungry at "odd" hours (odd according to Parisians). This place had fish & chips on the menu! We excitedly ordered two, then realized we were both in a hurry to get to work.. me, not being the fastest eater, had to watch half of my fries disappear :((( Anyway! Back to the finds!! Duncan refused to lug this to work, so that became my mission instead (I was babysitting that night). This thing was deceptively heavy!! And quite large. Not ideal on a Saturday night with the metro full of drunk people. But it's SO PRETTY. Here, set up in the darkness of our living room. It'll soon be filled with plants and maybe some fairy lights?? I'm in love. More pics to come when it's properly set up. Next find: a Monster High-doll for my little girls, I'm planning to buy their love, hehe. Next on their wishlist is Barbies camper van, one of which I have in moms basement! Happy to give it new life with my beloved girls <3 Got this classic Van Halen record for 10 euros (instead of 12 because the guy decided we were friends :))) ), it's got Jump, Panama, Hot for teacher etc. in great condition too! :) This is some kind of Chinese pepper that I've trimmed and re-potted. Crossing all my fingers that it'll survive and thrive here at ours!! Plants <3 And last out, but NOT least: GOLDEN SHOES. I'm. In. Love. Now I just need to get back in the habit of wearing heels, hehe. A great big loot from this years first vide grenier!! So happy Duncan dragged me out of bed for this. This weekend we'll do it again! :D
