THE PAST WEEK & A DISTURBED GIG.

Last Friday was spent running errands. Picked up new contacts, finally dropped off bags of clothing at a second hand shop. It's something I've been putting off for ages, so nice to finally have it off my to do list. Walked down Quincampoix (like in Amélie ❤), a super cute street.  We ended up in little India, just up the road from us. We had a cooking project planned and needed all the exotic veg we could get our mitts on. It tends to get very hectic inside our favourite shop so I let D. do the actual shopping, while I stood outside and admired the new lights they've put up.  We spent hours cooking up a veritable feast, but I think that's a post for another time :) I've been hanging out at the Swedish school in the afternoons, as per usual. The ivy climbing on the wall of the church is absolutely amazing. Plant goals.  The other day we had a sudden hail storm! Thunder, lightning and hail the size of snowballs.  My little tomatoes that have just moved out got a bit of a shock! But they're still going strong out there 💪 I, for one, love a good thunderstorm. I immediately dug out my onesie (it's really too warm for it, but it has the cosy factor), lit candles, made myself a bucket of tea and snuggled up in bed with TV and Swedish Gifflar (little cinnamon buns). Mmmmm.  Yesterday it was concert time!! My favourite kind of time :D  The opening act was a band called Skindred. On wikipedia they're described as a hard reggae metal band, I was sceptical at first. But it didn't take long for me to jump on board! They really got the whole crowd jumping, an impressive feat for a band that I don't think anyone there really knew.  Really fun gig, they're playing a full gig in Paris in December and I hope to be there :)))  A great start, but we were really there for Disturbed!  I've only ever seen them at Hellfest before, which is obviously both outside and massive, so it was great to see them in a much more intimate setting! They played at Elysee Montmartre, a beautiful venue. I managed to sneak my way up to pretty much the front, as usual. I've gone to a few gigs by myself now and am realising that I really don't mind it. It's more the waiting before that gets a bit dull toute seule.  I've given up bringing my real camera to most gigs, as a lot of places have become really strict with that kind of thing. A bit silly I think, as cameras on phones just keep getting better so why stop regular cameras when you can't stop phones? Having said that, my phone's camera isn't amazing unfortunately, haha.. but at least I was near the stage so I was able to get a few passable shots!  A great gig, all in all. David Draiman's voice is a pretty incredible thing to hear live. I didn't love the part where he started lecturing (yes, it felt like a lecture) about addiction and depression, I understand that it's important to talk about and that he has a good platform to do so from, but it really did bring the whole mood down. I'm there to jump around and forget sad and bad stuff, if only for a few hours.  But, as far as concerts go it was really f-ing good.  The sound of silence and Down with the sickness were my highlights! I wanted A reason to fight from their latest album to be my nr 1 of the night, but that was tainted by the addiction speech unfortunately. Oh well, still a great gig and am excited to see them again in a month at Sweden Rock!  After the gig I called Duncan and asked him to order me a chicken burger then made my way over to Moose. Hung out with D. and Guillaume, had some beers, good chat then went home and took a well deserved shower! Today I'm sore all over from jumping around and head banging, just as it should be :))) Now I better get dressed to go pick up kiddos!
