SAPLUNARA (MLJET) ON TO KORCULA TOWN, ISLAND OF KORCULA

--------------Stayed at: Campground Port 9Ate at: A pizzeria in The Old Town, can't remember the name but it wasn't amazing so you're not missing out!Visited: The Old Town, Massimo Cocktail Bar---------------- We woke up in the sleepy town of Saplunara, on the island of Mljet. We'd read about an amazing beach that wasn't far away, so we got our gear together and started hiking. Up the road was some kind of military area, which wasn't allowed for peasants like us. NO! Hehe. Glimpsed longingly at the people already in the water at the smaller beach on our way. But we had a goal and were gonna make it!  Not sad when your walk includes views like these. Finally made it to Blace Beach, which we had heard so many great things about. We were a bit underwhelmed... it was nice and all, but there are just SO many beautiful spots to go for a swim, this was far from the nicest one. Fun fact though: they filmed a season of Survivor here years ago, you can still see the leftovers of their camp. Pretty cool! At 4 o'clock we were supposed to meet the guy who had offered to drive us back to the ferry, so we started hiking back after a swim and a tad of sun bathing. Stopped for lunch on the way - don't know how many ćevapi we had on this trip, here served in pita bread with lots of ajvar. Delicious!!  A couple of hours later we stepped foot on the island of Korcula and the next leg of our island hopping trip! We'd booked in to a campground for the night and I was SO excited when we found out the best way of getting there was by water taxi :D So the water taxi drops you off right at the campground, which is extremely convenient. We checked ourselves in and were then taken on a whole tour of the grounds! Warmest welcome at a campground ever?! We picked a spot near the water and made ourselves at home... First night in a tent on this trip :) I never though I'd say this, but I was sort of looking forward to it! There's something special with sleeping outdoors.  When the sun had set we hopped on another water taxi back to town for dinner : ) Korcula was beautiful, but just like in Dubrovnik I found the Old Town extremely touristy.. managed to find a table outside at a pizza place overlooking the water in the end, everywhere was super busy. After dinner we set off to find a cocktail or two!  We found Massimo cocktail bar! A really cool place, located on top of the ancient tower to the left. The less cool part was the ladder you had to climb to get up there. I have a bit of an irrational fear of heights and kept thinking that somehow I would let go and plummet to my death. I didn't! Yay! Calmed my nerves with a strawberry daquiri. They send all drinks up in a little baskey on a rope, along the side of the building. How cute?!  I was still pretty petrified (kept thinking about the fact that I had to get back down again!), but it was worth the fear. Really cool venue for a couple of drinks. Then we waved goodnight to Korcula town and taxi-boated back to our home for the night! Another great day on holiday :))))
