HALLOWEEN: THE BUFFET.

On Tuesday night it was HALLOWEEN TIME! I always plan this about a year in advance - best night of the year, paws down. We had invited a few friends over for drinks & finger food, here's what I prepared!  The witches fingers were very popular! It's hot dogs filled with mimolette cheese & tomato sauce, wrapped in pastry. A take on pigs in a blanket :) fun, but heads up: they took a long time to make!  There were mini mozzarella-eyeballs, babybel-monsters & garlic bread mummies (which looked more like yellow ninjas, oh well. haha).  Ghost & devil-shaped chips & marshmallow/napkin-ghosts, reluctantly put together by Duncan... hehe.  Chocolate ball, marzipan-covered ghosts added a sweet element :)  Looking at these photos I'm starting to realise just how much I took on, oops. Ended up doing everything on Monday night as well, after working all day. Was up putting things together until 3AM :O Anyway - if you're gonna carve a butternut squash-skull, just know it's HARD WORK. There, now you know. Also made green chicken wings, hehe. The original plan was to make black ones to look like bat wings, but couldn't find black food colouring.. so these ones are glazed in a bit of green food colouring and a sauce based on honey & jalapeno hot sauce.  And enfin - a camembert wrapped in pastry with a bit of raspberry jam (and mozzarella eyes ><)! Realised that I should have gotten crackers or something for this, but people seemed to like it anyway 'cause there was none left at the end of the night :) Duncan made cocktails & something he called Five Finger Death Punch :D  LOTS of work for one night, but also so much fun and felt like a big hit all around. For the next party I'm making sure I'm not working all day long the day of & the day before.  In the next post we're having a look at costumes and our night out :)
