BARAYO BEACH AND SAN TIMOTEO DAY IN LUARCA.

Today our first outing led us to Barayo beach, one of the well known beaches in the area. Saw goats on the way from the parking lot :)))  It was beautiful but a bit tricky to get to! Well, not very clear at least. We took what we later realised was a trickier route than needed, it included wading across this bit where there might once upon a time have been a bridge?? As soon as we got to the actual beach we saw stairs that led right down from the parking lot, haha. More fun to go the adventurous route, right?  We made it in the end! Celebrated with an icy cold beer from the cooler :)  The water was cold as ever, but after your legs start going numb it's actually pretty nice, hehe.  Next stop: Luarca!  We were hungry and quickly located one of the few open restaurants. Ordered the menu of the day for 16 euros each and got to try a bit of everything. The starters were all absolutely amazing! First up: Fabada, a bean & chorizo stew that I have to try and re-create at home when it gets a bit colder outside.  Then this thing which they called a Russian salad? Not sure if that's a thing anywhere else? Creamy tuna & potato-thingie with eggs, lots of herbs and other yummy stuff.  And one of my faves: croquetas :))))  After that amazing start we were pumped for the mains, but it was like going to a completely different place! Bland, overcooked, sad dishes. Didn't even want to take photos. Jumping straight to the cute coffee instead :)  We had been told that there was some sort of town festival going down on this particular day, when we asked the waiter about it he explained that it was basically a big picnic followed by a concert, LOTS of drinking and excess in general. Where to? we asked, haha.  We followed the herds of people all dressed in matching tops with T's on them, T for San Timoteo, whom they all love and who loves them according to our friendly waiter. It was so much more than a picnic! Rides for the kids, bars for the adults, lots of stands selling treats, music and dancing. Lots of cider. Fun!!!  Now back at the apartment in Puerto de Vega, exhausted after a pretty long day in the sun. Almost time for mojitos and a late dinner :)
