AN INDIAN FEAST CHEZ NOUS.

One rainy day at the beginning of may started with poached eggs on English muffins. Pas mal.  We braved the rain eventually and went shopping for the evenings cooking project!  My first dish was Gobi Fry! They looked nothing like the ones you get in restaurants (or in recipes online for that matter), but they were super yummy, and I don't even normally like cauliflower!  Next up: rice. Something that heavily relies on sauce in most dishes, in this case it was a star on it's own! We fried it lightly with ghee, crispy lentils, curry leaves, mustard seeds and other things that I've forgotten but will have to look up again 'cause it was YUM.  Aubergine, one of my absolute faves. Who doesn't love aubergine?? This time marinated and cooked with a yogurt sauce.  We had so many different things going on in that meal, it took us around 4 hours in total >< But what does that matter when you have beer, snacks, music and each other? Lucky we both like to cook!  At this stage I was getting hungry though, this is my best trying not to break down from hanger-face. Intense.  Aubergine! MMMMM aubergine.  And here's our final spread for the night! Delicious rice, aubergine in yogurt sauce, stuffed bitter gourd and spicy pickled pumpkin.  We ate until we were as stuffed as the bitter gourd. Best meal in a while.  Me in new pyjamas, a definite plus of eating in.  All recipes (except the gobi fry-snack) are from this book, an amazing Christmas present to Duncan from my dad ❤This post has made me extremely hungry so might need to grab a snack before I grab little Leo and head to babysitting!
