Australia: Where to go; Part 1
To start with, I want to apologize for not updating lately. I've just been through hell, (naa not really) but I'm all good now... except the Swedish essay on 7 pages I haven't finished yet. Second of all, this post will be about some of the places you should go to when travelling to Australia. Which is by the way the most beautiful country I've ever been to! Why? Because they've got all from snow (yes, believe it or not I was suprised as well - up in the mountains down south you can find "loads" of snow in winter where people go skiing), beautiful mountains, deep blue oceans, waves, surfers, good looking guys..., an outstanding outback with red soil and dried out plants... and not to mention the best English accent of them all; The Aussie Accent! Let's start with Sydney, after all - you wouldn't want to sit down on another 7 hour flight somewhere else in the country after being on a approx. 30h on a flight from Europe (I thought it was tough with a 1.5h flight to Port Macquarie). So, my derest Sydney, which is not the capital of Australia as you all may know (some Aussies in my geography class didn't even know that - awkward!). For me, Sydney became sort of a second home, being the second closest biggest city to where I lived. Sydney: Circular Quay and the Sydney Harbour is probably amongst the first thing you'd visit in Sydney. It doesn't matter how many times I've been there to see it with my own eyes, it always feels like the first time. To all Bondi fans: have you been to Manly? (I'm a Bondi fan myself, but I must say I prefer Manly) I'd say go there, but if can't visit both: I'd say take the next ferry from Circular Quay to Manly instead! Onboard the ferry you'll get the chanse to take a shot on the Sydney Harbour and Opera House like the one below! Manly is also easier to get to than Bondi is, if you don't have a car, you'll have to go on a short ferry trip and a long bustrip to get to Bondi, Manly only takes 20 min with one ferry! Below is Bondi, not Manly Darling Harbour, a nice place to have lunch! QVB, Queen Victoria Building. Nice shops in an extraordinary building. It's definately worth having a look even though the shops doesn't interest you! But if they do, make sure you've got a big wallet! Sydney Tower, this is the lookout over Darling Harbour a quite cloudy day as I remember it (but still as beautiful). Worth having a look if you want to get an idea about where everything has its place in the city. Otherwise, nothing special. You can also go for a skywalk if you'd like - sounds exciting, nothing I would attempt because I'm quite scared of hights..... But other people might like it! What else have we got? I never had the time to go to the Blue Mountains, but if I did I would have! So if you can spare 3-4 days, I'd recommend you to! Balmain East has pretty little shops for thick wallets. It's also nice just to walk around, grab a pie from the pie shop or buy some of the best sourdough bread ever made! The Rocks has its beautiful old cobble rocks, pubs and art galleries. China Town, for me who hadn't been to any China Town in the world before it was a great experience. If you're planning on going to China town in Australia you should do it in Sydney and nowhere else. Although if you've been to some American China Town I'd probably recommend you not to go to the Sydney one. Newtown, it's a really nice place to both have lunch at and to have a look in the nice shops they've got. Visiting recomendation: - Circular Quay and the Sydney Harbour 5/5 - Bondi and Bondi Beach 4/5 - Manly and Manly Beach 5/5 - Darling Harbour 5/5 - QVB 5/5 - Sydney Tower 3.5/5 - Blue Mountains 5/5 (if you've got 3-4 days to spare) - Balmain East 3/5 - The Rocks 4.5/5 - China Town 4/5 - Newtown 4/5 This is only the start! More Australia recomendations will come!
